This article seeks to outline, based on the teachings of Pope Francis, some challenges that arise in the field of law in relation to bioethics and, based on those challenges, to present the fundamental principles of biolaw. The first part addresses three cultural challenges that have an impact on the field of bioethics and biolaw, namely: the technocratic paradigm, relativism, and an individualistic conception of human rights. The second part presents the fundamental principles of biolaw around the very notion of law and its relationship to justice, the principle of respect for human dignity, and the common good as the ultimate goal of the political community.
